R350 Grant: SASSA updates payment schedule for November 2020
All SASSA payments will be made available in the next few days. Here’s the full schedule, including key dates for the R350 grant.
The R350 grant will soon start its first day of a three-month extension. In October, it was announced that the SRD payment would continue until 31 January 2021. Calls for the permanent introduction of this SASSA handout have already intensified, with the first November payments due in just a few days.
SASSA PAYMENT DATES FOR NOVEMBER 2020
On Monday, SASSA confirmed when each of their payments would be made available for the month ahead.
- Tuesday 3 November: Older Person’s Grants made available, as are any other payments these recipients are entitled to.
- Wednesday 4 November: Disability Grants made available, as are any other payments these recipients are entitled to.
- Thursday 5 November: All other SASSA payouts are made available, including the R350 grant. Not every recipient will get their SRD payments on Thursday, and due to the way this system functions, some applicants will have to wait a little longer.
WHAT DOES IT COST SASSA TO EXTEND THE R350 GRANT?
A ‘Basic Income Grant’ is being punted by several political figures, including Mmusi Maimane. This comes after some six million people received the R350 handout during a financially difficult time this year.
The extension of the scheme is costing the government almost R7 billion initially, but prices are likely to increase should they rollout these payments beyond January. Basic Income Grants remain popular – but tough to fund during a pandemic.
Meanwhile, SASSA is still dealing with a raft of complaints about their administrative capabilities:
Those who feel aggrieved by their application outcome should either call 0800 60 10 11 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with their complaints in order to access the recourse mechanism. The appeal process is still in discussions.

WHAT DATE WILL THE R350 GRANT GET PAID THIS MONTH?
Older Person’s Grants will be the first up for withdrawal, followed by disability payments. The R350 grant will then be loaded onto the system the day after. It’s worth noting that recipients don’t have to collect their payments on the designated day, as they will remain available throughout November. However, for those who can’t afford to wait, this is your schedule:
